
Stan Martin has enjoyed a career in the music industry for more than 40 years. His accomplishments are varied. Stan has toured the world as lead trumpet and featured soloist with name acts such as Barry Manilow, Tom Jones, Donna Summer, Poncho Sanchez, Paul Anka, Glenn Miller Orchestra. He has performed as a L.A. studio musician playing on countless movie, TV, commercials and album projects.
Over the years, Stan has been commissioned by many artists and schools to write arrangements for musical projects. Mr Martin has been the principal orchestral and choral arranger for the Oaks Christian Fine Arts Program for many years. His composition “Call to Duty” for wind ensemble won him a “Semi-Finalist” certificate in 2015 with “The American Prize” competition. He has also worked extensively with middle and high school music programs, which inspired his desire to compose for different ensembles including jazz bands, concert bands and orchestras.
Stan’s original scores have been performed by many ensembles, including The Long Beach Municipal Band, Tom Kubis Big Band and many other Los Angeles professional musical organizations, as well as high schools and colleges.
As an educator, Stan has been working with the Orange County Philharmonic Society in teaching the history of jazz in Orange County schools for 15 years. Amongst his credits, he has worked with many high schools in the Los Angeles area, including the Hamilton Music Academy. Stan has worked as a trumpet master class and improvisation teacher at the Idyllwild Arts Academy “Jazz in the Pines Student Clinic” in 2022. He has been deeply involved with Hayward La Honda Music Camp as a camper, counselor, recreation director, staff member, camp director for many years.
