Jeff de Seriere
Dr. Jeff de Seriere is the Director of Large Instrumental Ensembles at Cabrillo College (Aptos, CA) where he directs the Symphonic Winds, Symphonic Orchestra, and teaches courses in chamber music, music theory and music history. Alongside his work in higher education, Dr. de Seriere serves as the Music Director of YOSAL (Youth Orchestra Salinas) where he works with students in Grades 5-12, and Music Director of the San Francisco Brass Band. Prior to his return to California, Dr. de Seriere was the Interim Director of Bands and Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at Wartburg College (Waverly, IA.) From 2017-2020 Dr. de Seriere was the founding director of the California School of the Arts - San Gabriel Valley, and from 2014-2017 he led the nationally recognized Frederick Fennell Wind Studies Program at the Orange County School of the Arts. In 2021, he was recognized by the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association with the “Rising Star” award for his work as an educator, clinician, and adjudicator. Dr. de Seriere has also served as the Music Director of the Catalyst Wind Collective, Symphonic Winds of the Pacific, and True Brass Choir. In 2026, the San Francisco Brass Band was selected to perform at the California All-State Music Education Conference in Sacramento, CA. In 2016, True Brass Choir was selected to perform at the California All-State Music Education Conference in San Jose, CA. In 2015, he was a guest conductor with the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own”. Dr. de Seriere earned a doctor of music degree in conducting from Northwestern University and a masters and bachelors degree in conducting and instrumental music education, respectively, from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach. His principal teachers include Dr. Mallory Thompson, John Alan Carnahan, and Dr. Anthony Mazzaferro.
